Third Six Pupillage at 4 New Square

Exceptionally, Four New Square is inviting applications for up to two third six month pupillages to commence in late summer/early autumn 2010.

In accordance with our Pupillage Policy, candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they meet or exceed our objective standard of excellence expected from pupils seeking tenancy at that stage of the year, i.e. the standard to be expected after 9 months of pupillage.

Third six pupils who meet the required standards at the end of the Third Six period will be offered a tenancy, in accordance with our aim of recruiting two junior tenants each year.

What’s on offer?
We will offer up to two Third Six pupillages to commence in late summer/early autumn 2010. The details of the pupillage, including the commencement date, will be a matter for discussion with successful candidates.

Application process and selection criteria
Applicants for Third Six pupillage should submit a full CV and covering letter by e-mail, if possible, to the Pupillage Administrator (pupillage@4newsquare.com). E-mails should have “Third Six Application” in the subject line. In the event that e-mail is not available, applications should be submitted by post/DX, addressed to the Pupillage Administrator and with the envelope clearly marked “Third Six Application”.

Candidates should include details of the experience that they have gained in pupillage together with contact details for their referees. Additionally, candidates are asked to complete and return an Equal Opportunities Monitoring Questionnaire (available by clicking here) together with their application. Completion of the Questionnaire is optional and the information we collect will be kept separate from and forms no part of our selection and assessment process.

Initially, applications will be considered on paper by at least two members of our Recruitment Committee.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview and may be asked to carry out an advocacy exercise or to undertake a piece of written work.

Applicants will be assessed against our four recruitment criteria, namely intellectual ability, potential as an advocate, personal qualities and motivation. They will be expected to demonstrate that they meet or exceed the standard to be expected of a pupil after nine months of pupillage.

Prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to read our Pupillage Policy prior to submitting an application. If you have unanswered questions, please contact the Pupillage Administrator at pupillage@4newsquare.com or 020 7822 2000.

Deadlines
Applications must be received by 5.00pm on 12 July 2010.
