As an undergraduate, Claire obtained a first class degree in law from New College, Oxford, receiving the Martin Wronker prize for the highest first in her year and a Gibbs prize for contract, land, tort and trusts. She then completed the BCL at Lincoln College, Oxford, winning a Lord Crewe scholarship and the Supperstone scholarship for future barristers.

 

Claire is a member of Lincoln’s Inn where she obtained a Lord Mansfield scholarship and Hardwicke entrance award, a Sheldon pupillage scholarship and a Buchanan prize.  Claire was graded outstanding in BVC finals, obtaining the College of Law prize for best student in negotiation.

 

Claire joined Chambers in 2007, having undertaken a broadly commercial pupillage, working on professional liability, insurance and reinsurance, fraud, construction and engineering, company law and international commercial disputes. She also has experience of work involving conflicts of law, public, sports and financial services law.

 

Claire is now developing her practice in all areas of Chambers’ work and appears regularly in the County Courts both in trials and applications. Claire recently worked with Ben Hubble on a solicitors' negligence case featured on BBC1's "Panorama" programme. She is also involved in the forthcoming construction law dispute in the TCC relating to the refurbishment of the London Blackwall Tunnel. She has experience of a range of professional liability work including solicitors, architects and travel services providers.

 

In March 2008 Claire undertook a secondment with a commercial firm in the British Virgin Islands, and was admitted to practise in the BVI in April 2008. As part of her work there, Claire has been involved in one of the largest value hedge fund claims ever to be brought in the US, of obtaining injunctions including Norwich Pharmacal and freezing orders, and in proceedings to trace the fruits of a multi million dollar fraud perpetrated on 125 investors.
