Profile
Alex developed a successful chancery commercial practice in Lincoln’s Inn before moving to Four New Square in 2001. His practice focuses mainly on commercial and chancery litigation and professional indemnity work in related fields.
His commercial work includes domestic and international contractual disputes of all kinds, banking, financial services, and insurance and reinsurance. A substantial proportion of this work is financial in nature.
His chancery practice has always been at the commercial end of the spectrum, and incorporates company and insolvency law, real property, commercial and residential landlord and tenant, and partnership disputes. He has particular expertise in mortgage or guarantee related disputes. In addition, he has been involved in a number of cases involving domestic and international trusts, probate and the administration of estates.
His professional indemnity work concerns the conduct of lawyers, accountants and auditors, surveyors and valuers and financial services professionals. He acts for both Claimants and Defendants.
In recent years Alex has developed an international angle to his practice, particularly in the Eastern Caribbean and Africa. He enjoys working with professionals from other jurisdictions and travelling to and working in different countries.
Alex contributed the property, planning and environment chapter to Leigh-Ann Mulcahy’s publication Human Rights and Civil Practice (Sweet & Maxwell, 2001).”
